Luke West is a publisher, writer and author of sport & recreation books. This is a sample of the books he helped bring to life during his 3.5 years at Rockpool Publishing where he was the sole employee dedicated to the Gelding Street Press imprint. Many more GSP books in the pipeline to be published.
Luke hit the publicity trail ahead of the launch of the Bathurst: The Great Race book. He was a major contributing writer for this history book and oversaw its production in-house at Rockpool Publishing. Luke has worked in and around sport and motoring media for 25 years in multi-faceted roles.
I'm a font of ideas for sport, recreation, history and general non-fiction books. I have a track record of signing high profile authors and bringing books to life that readers enjoy and their giftbuyers love giving.
I'm a skilled magazine editor and contributor. I spent eight years as editor-in-chief of Australia's leading motoring history title. I now undertake special projects for Nextmedia.
I create high-quality content that educates, informs and engages audiences. I'm experienced in writing books, magazine articles, media releases, web content, annual reports, social media content and email newsletters. I write in everyday language and detest corporate speak and jargon.
I provide comprehensive editing and proofreading services to ensure your content is error-free, polished, and professional. Whether you need a quick proofread or a deep dive into your manuscript, I've got you covered.
I'm a sport and recreation publisher with a special interest in motorsport. I'm fresh from a three-year stint at Rockpool Publishing in Sydney where I commissioned and produced Formula One Down Under: Australian Grand Prix History, Australia’s Greatest Racecars and many other motoring titles. This followed authoring Immortals of Australian Motor Racing: the Local Heroes and Supercars: the Holden vs Ford era. I was editor of Australian Muscle Car magazine and earlier wrote for motorsport titles Auto Action and V8X. This dovetailed with commentating at local racetracks. I also have experience working in corporate communications and had a five-year stint at Toyota Australia's publicity agency The Project Group. My racing hero is Ayrton Senna, who won the first Formula 1 event I attended, the 1991 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide. I first went to the Bathurst 1000 in 1984.
